Canadian Nationals Jiu-Jitsu Championships (BJJ)

The CJA in conjunction with OJA is pleased to announce and introduce to everyone to the Canadian National Jiu Jitsu Championships.

This tournament will be held at the Save Max Centre in Brampton on Sunday June 9th 2024.

This tournament, like for many other sports, will qualify the best teen, adult and masters Jiu Jitsu athletes in the country for each division. This year these athletes will represent Canada at the JJIF World Championships tournament in Greece in Oct/Nov 2024.

For those not familiar, Canada has been taking teams to this event since 2017 (2020 excluded) and this past summer the CJA took large teams to Mongolia in July for the adults and masters and Kazakhstan for the youth team in August.

The National tournament features all divisions and the best athletes will qualify to represent Canada.

Qualification process.

Adults and Master.

The Gold and silver medalists of each division will qualify to represent Canada.

All Adult gold medalists will receive a free package to the tournament (airfare, accommodations and registration), the silver medalist will receive free registration but will be required to pay for airfare and accommodations.

-All Masters gold and silver medalists will receive free registration but will be required to pay for airfare and accommodations.

Who can participate in the Masters divisions? Anyone age 35 and uo.

Who can participate in the Adults divisions? Anyone from ages 21-34

U14, U16, U18 and U21

Gold medalist and silver medalist of each division will qualify to represent Canada.

Requirements:

  1. All adult divisions receiving a full paid package must have a minimum of 4 athletes competing in the division.
  2. The U14, U16, U18, U21 and Masters divisions that qualify an athlete but don’t receive a full package will receive a full paid package if that division exceeds 10 athletes.
  3. Any qualified athlete can, and will be removed from the team if the CJA Board finds he/she isn’t helping the team (i.e. Participations in team training sessions),
  4. A world level athlete can be selected to go by the CJA Board if those 2 spots (gold and silver aren’t taken).
  5. You must be a Canadian citizen and have a valid Canadian passport to compete.
  6. If you are a Masters and want to compete in the adult division, you may do so.
  7. If you are under 21 and want to compete in the adult division, you may do so.

We will also be offering non qualifying divisions for Kids (all belts), Adults/Masters Male (white and blue belts) and Adult/Master Female (white belts)
